What it shows
For each category:| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Category | The account name from your chart of accounts |
| Account Type | Asset, Liability, Revenue, Expense, or Equity |
| Opening Balance | Balance at the start of the period |
| Debits | Total money debited during the period |
| Credits | Total money credited during the period |
| Closing Balance | Balance at the end of the period |
When to use it
- Month-end review - see how each account changed during the month
- Spot anomalies - large unexpected debits or credits stand out immediately
- Accountant requests - a common report for bookkeeping reviews
Running the report
- Go to Reports → Account Balances
- Select your date range
- Click Generate
- Export as PDF or CSV if needed
