Account Balances Report

The Account Balances report shows the financial movement for each category in your Chart of Accounts over a selected period.

What it shows

For each category:
ColumnMeaning
CategoryThe account name from your chart of accounts
Account TypeAsset, Liability, Revenue, Expense, or Equity
Opening BalanceBalance at the start of the period
DebitsTotal money debited during the period
CreditsTotal money credited during the period
Closing BalanceBalance at the end of the period

When to use it

  • Month-end review — see how each account changed during the month
  • Spot anomalies — large unexpected debits or credits stand out immediately
  • Accountant requests — a common report for bookkeeping reviews

Running the report

  1. Go to ReportsAccount Balances
  2. Select your date range
  3. Click Generate
  4. Export as PDF or CSV if needed
